Malvern Spoken Word is a friendly group of poets and storytellers loosely based around the Malvern Hills. We exist primarily to celebrate and promote the spoken word in its many forms.
We hold face-to-face meetings and Zoom meetings. Whether live or virtual, the format is much the same. We are a Spoken Word group. We read aloud to each other, sometimes our own work, sometimes others' work that we feel like airing. There's plenty of free discussion too, but no formal workshopping or criticism.
Face-to-face meetings
We meet twice monthly in the Great Malvern Hotel. Please see the Meetings page for dates and times. New members and visitors are always welcome. Just bring yourself and something you've written (5 mins max). Or simply be part of our audience. There's no entry charge and of course refreshments can be purchased from the hotel bar. (Please do not bring your own refreshments to the hotel).
Zoom meetings (every Thursday, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.)
When the Covid lockdowns started, we moved our activities online and, as these sessions proved popular, we have kept them going. Zoom has some advantages, especially for those with farther to travel.
